Technical Presentations
A technical presentation is a time-bound explanation of a technical problem, decision, design, or result for a particular audience. Its working system has four parts: an audience with prior knowledge and goals, a central message, evidence arranged into a spoken sequence, and visual material that directs attention. Delivery connects those parts in real time. A polished deck cannot repair a message that does not answer the audience's question.
The first design decision is not a theme or slide layout. It is the change the talk should produce. A design review may need a decision. A conference talk may need a reusable mental model. An incident review may need shared understanding of causes and corrective actions. That purpose determines which evidence belongs, how much background the audience needs, and what the conclusion must make clear.
Build the message before the deck
Write the central message as one sentence. It should be a claim the audience can understand and remember, not a label such as “system architecture.” Then identify the evidence needed to support it. Outline that reasoning before opening presentation software.
